Positive energy received! Thank you, MESD & Lilly!

My response to anyone’s misfortune… illness, unhappiness, death of a loved one… is to send positive energy.  I focus on the person and send wishes for ‘peace and joy.’  If it sounds like prayer, it’s because to me it is.  I believe in a higher power.  I believe that Divinity is God.  For me ‘sending positive energy’ is the modern day equivalent of lighting a candle at church.

Last night, I had a troubling cab ride home.  My driver ranted from Division and Ashland to Addison and Lake Shore.  He was Nigerian with a heavy accent.  I wasn’t always certain what he was raging about but the emotion was clear.  Of the topics I could decipher, I heard mention of Chinese New Year, abortion, American veterans, and gun control.  It was an uncomfortable ride as he pounded his fists and screamed his discontent.  As he spewed indignation, the cab filled up with negativity energy.  I was choking in it.  I wanted to have him stop but I didn’t want to upset him more.  Plus, it had started to snow on a Friday night.  A new cab would be a hard acquisition.  So, I sat quiet and motionless as I was shrouded in his gloom.

At my stop, he stopped.  He said very contritely, “I’m sorry ma’am.  I’m like this every day.”

As I was getting out of the cab, I said to him, “I know life is hard.  You have to let go of the negativity and embrace the positive.

I stepped out of his despair, into my lobby and into my world of peace and joy.  I could breathe again.

This morning I received a box of positive energy.  Literally!  MESD and her daughter Lilly sent me six bracelets from Alex and Ani .  The present is to commemorate my 50th birthday.  They are amazingly cool.  Interestingly, their arrival was delayed to this week (my birthday was in December).  Since I believe in the sequential order of life, it’s perfect that these bracelets arrived after I started reading “How to Train a Wild Elephant.”  This book concentrates on learning to live with mindfulness.  The mission of

Alex and Ani is “building a culture that focuses entirely on mindful actions.”

This week’s activity is performing tasks with my non-dominate hand.  The book suggests putting a band-aid on my finger as a reminder to use that hand and be more mindful.  Why use a band-aid when a beautiful bracelet can help you be mindful?  And I have six!  Each has been infused with positive energy and has its own purpose.  One has a compass symbol to target objective, direction and transition.  Another is a Claddagh charm, an Irish symbol for love, friendship, loyalty.  One has my blue zircon birthstone for fortune, happiness and intuition.  Two are strings of positive energy crystals: a dark, calming one and a bright, dazzling one.

This one is probably my favorite.  It is called Vintage sixty-six: “inspired by the age of youth that grew from the revolutionary ideas of the sixties, Vintage 66 boldly encourages an inherited eccentric way of thinking, feeling and doing.  These retro chic designs harness the cultural power of change and the capabilities of the imagination.“  It’s from my birth decade and my true nature.  So, let’s see what I do with that positive energy today!

Thank you, MESD and Lilly!!  I love my positive energy!
