Review “The Table” (Chicago Shakes): Moses is back!

The-Table-by-Blind-Summit-Chicago-Shakespeare-Lorna-Palmer_thumbChicago Shakespeare Theater welcomes Blind Summit’s THE TABLE to headline the Chicago International Puppet Festival, January 14th through 25th.

Moses is back!  The little guy is here for the 2015 puppet fest.  He brought his table and his mobility crew (Mark Down, Sean Garratt, Laura Caldow).  Three performers manipulate  and navigate the puppet through his existentialism crisis. Down leads the improvised shtick as Moses’ head and voice. He chats about his religious roots and his dependence on the actors.  Moses even demonstrates how the actors‘ focus makes him more life-like.  The mortality illusion is remarkable.  Moses is as real as we make believe him to be.  The Japanese Bunraku style puppet captivated Chicago over a year ago.  And now, we get a second helping of adorability at THE TABLE.

My 2013 review of THE TABLE.
