It’s been a week since my challenge ended. Where have I been?
Well, I got on the train in Chicago and got off in Sloth-ville. After posting my results of the 29 Day Challenge, I waded into a vegetative state. On Thanksgiving and the day after, I dropped my FitBit steps from a 14K daily average to less than 7K… for both days combined. I fell out of the first position on my FitBit buddy roster. I didn’t write a post, crack a book or do anything that could warrant a scratch off on my daily To-Do. I was completely To-Done.
That’s the beauty of going to my parents for Thanksgiving, it’s like a time warp. I’m a child again! My every need is taken care of without my having to do anything. I think SNL summed it up best in this Ballers Thanksgiving video. If I want something I just holler. I do what I want and I get what I want because my parents miss their daughter.
After a cozy stagnation period, I returned to reality on Saturday. I stepped back in Chicago and started stepping it up.
I worked three server shifts: Saturday night, Sunday brunch and Monday night. Monday was a total bust. It was cold outside and I had only two tables all evening. Still, the money I made on the other two days completed the couch fund. And I bought one. After almost fifty-one years, I purchased my first brand-new couch. I worked a deal with the guy and went *express* couch so I can have it by my birthday (Dec 19). We’ll see!
Josh and I returned to our training schedule. We worked out hard on Monday and Wednesday. He is cranking up the intensity. Yesterday, he gave my arms a real workout. I’ve already texted him this morning to see if he’s available circa 8:30 to come over and help me put my coat on. I’m really feeling it this morning!
Still, I’ll be doing the treadmill momentarily. I’m back on the machine daily. My plan is 6 times a week. I’ll do alternating sessions: hills and sprints. Besides being a metabolism booster for the day, the activity also gets steps in. I’m back at #1 on the FitBit buddy roster. And I intend to stay there. I have dropped my goal down to 14,286 steps daily. My past goal was 17,500. I reduced it for the winter. The seven days of steps get me to 100,000. And the lower goal means I’ll be rewarded more regularly with the victory buzz. When you hit your goal, your FitBit vibrates. In the dark, gloomy wintery days, I need a good daily buzz to keep me going. 😉
At my real job, I’m cleaning up. I leave for Christmas break on December 18th. To my delight and chagrin, it is a little more than two weeks away. So, I’m clipping through all my end of the year projects so I can bask in another holiday stint of merriment and chillaxin.
