Fall is my favorite season. Summer just whizzed past. And it’s not quite the holidays. Fall is like taking a study hall in-between two honor courses. The pace is slower. The cool weather encourages snuggling under a blanket. With kids back in school, there is that adult self-satisfying smugness. I look at the little darlings at a school bus stop and think, done-that-don’t-ever-have-to-do-it-again. There is just a lot to love about this time of year…
- Leaves change color.
- Sleeveless weather is officially over.
- All things pumpkin. This year, I tried the pumpkin Oreos. It’s nothing I’ll ever crave but I enjoy the targeted consumer novelty.
- Football starts! I’m not a fan of any team but I do think it’s sweet how excited people get over their alma mater or favorite team. I get a kick out of observing the hoopla from my bench seat.
- Chili! I make up a big batch of veggie chili. I freeze some for future meals. I eat it for lunch for several days in a row then I toss some because I get sick of it.
- Halloween pops up! It’s fun to see people decorating their houses in spookiness. The more elaborate the effort, the more I appreciate their holiday spirit.
- Sweather: sweater weather! COZY!
- We get to FALL back! On November 2nd, we get an extra hour to do whatever we want. I’m making plans! 🙂
- The smell of burning… I love the smell of leaves and fireplaces burning. On a crisp fall day, I love sniffing that homey smell.
- Television series are back. “The Mindy Project”, “The Goldbergs”, “Modern Family” are brand new episodes. I enjoy a smart comedy sitcom.
- Hot tea. I can’t drink coffee all day because of the caffeine. And decaf coffee is bitter to me. Decaf hot tea is perfect. I love warming my hands holding a cup.
- It’s peaceful. I love walking on the sidewalks blanketed in colorful leaves.
