If life had gone according to plan, I would be married to the guy directly above me in this kindergarten picture. I announced to his parents my intentions back in 1969. He was the full package. He was cute with an easy laugh. And even though he wasn’t the boy-next-door, he was the boy across Bristol Street and in a neighboring subdivision. I knew it was true love because I still wanted to spend my life with him after he’d get his haircut.
Plans change. Dreams fade. Still, I continually have both. Other things that didn’t happen….
*being a ballerina.
*marrying Bobby Sherman.
*being cast in “Little House on the Prairie.”
*marrying Steve Dibley.
*being picked first for a team.
*having a guest spot on “The Hardy Boys.”
*marrying Parker Stephenson.
*an acne free adolescence.
*going to prom.
*being prom queen.
*becoming President.
*that college would go on indefinitely.
*becoming a lawyer.
*backpacking across Europe.
*having a fling with Mike Meyers.
*volunteering in a third world country.
*selling a screenplay.
*having financial independence.
*having kids.
*owning a restaurant.
*having a popular radio show.
*making a living as a writer.
…. I continue to plan and dream big and small.
