After a 70 hour work week with cash in my pocket, I like to hit the road.
Steve invited me to a house party in Douglas, Michigan; White Pines. His place is like Barbie’s Dream House. The outside is perfectly manicured. The inside is exquisitely decorated. I remember I was here before I was ever here. When I played house as a kid, this spot was my imagination creation. Clean, beautiful with wonderful smelling soap in the bathrooms. Being here for the weekend is like taking a vacation to Pleasantville.
I rode up with James and Bill so I had my workout. My abs hurt from laughing so hard. Between a merging tutorial and Bill’s newest ability to do impressions, I LOL …a lot a lot.
The only downer in the otherwise hysterical romp is the actual state of Michigan. I’m sorry to report Michigan is looking dry. Along 94, many trees are dead and brown. Instead of the plush greenness of summer beckoning, Michigan seems to have skipped a couple of seasons and gone back to winter. The drought mode is like the kindling for a brush fire. Chicago is greener than Michigan…that’s just crazy.
Still, Steve’s landscaping provides the lush illusion that summer has arrived. Everything is alive and colorful. The pool is ready for the promised 72 degree temperature for Saturday.
Happy MDW!
