Review “Cirque Dreams Holidaze” (Chicago Theatre): Shiny, Bright Treat!

Chase presents CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE.

Chicago can celebrate the HOLIDAZE inside. Chicago Theatre has been transformed into a kids’ vision of Christmas delights. Scenic Designer Jon Craine, along with costume designs by Cirque Productions, stuff the stage with candy-cane-coated delights. Dancing elves, prancing reindeers, and flipping gingerbread provide a festive spectacle. The HOLIDAZE is a shiny, bright treat for the whole family.

HOLIDAZE showcases Christmas pageantry with a cirque twist. Acrobats, aerialists, jugglers perform their own razzle dazzel feats. Suspended from the rafters, they twirl and swirl to add HOLIDAZE excitement.

Created and directed by Neil Goldberg, HOLIDAZE is a playful diddie that combines Dickens, the North Pole and winter deity into a big box of Christmas fun. Goldberg keeps it simple making it truly kid-friendly. He doesn’t focus on a story. Instead, Goldberg utilizes a large cast of ornaments to provide a series of wonderland numbers. The thirty member ensemble, many playing multiple parts, add plenty of glitter and sparkle.

CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE is cute. It’s an inside version of Chicago Zoolights. You get to experience the flashy HOLIDAZE light show without the crowds or cold.
