29 Day Challenge: Week 2

IMG_1108I’m bordering on 50% done with my 29 Day Challenge.  This is the busiest time of the year for me so I’m thankful I’m focusing on taking care of myself.  Without having the goals and reporting my progress, I’d have canceled this and that out of  pity for myself.  Definitely this past week, I would have spent any down time…lying down and vegging with my “Gilmore Girls” rerun binge.  I did do some of that but I also did this…

Here are the results of my first fourteen days on the 29 Day Challenge;

GOAL:  Twenty minutes daily on the treadmill

ACTUAL:  13 out of 14 days.  Every day this past week!  The day after my Thursday benefit was dicey.  I had a late night, early breakfast with my parents and Abby, work and had picked up a dinner server shift.  I decided to leave the office job early to get my treadmill time in before I went to the restaurant.  In hindsight, I should never pick up a server shift the night after my benefit.  I was exhausted.

GOAL:  12 personal training sessions with Josh

ACTUAL:  5 of 12 personal training sessions with Josh.  I’m loving that Josh and I are able to work out on a heartier schedule.  I’m benefitting from his expertise.  My body is good and worn.  I am developing upper arm strength.  I’m surprised as anyone.  This picture is me doing a handstand in yoga yesterday.  I only held it momentarily but I did it.  The picture illustrates my combo success in yoga and training.

GOAL:  10 yoga classes

ACTUAL:  4 of 10 yoga classes.   I only worked in one yoga class because of scheduling conflicts but it was a good one.  See picture 😉

GOAL:  435,000 steps

ACTUAL:  201,619 steps of the 435,000.  Chicago has been hit with a cold blast.  I can already tell that getting in my steps is going to be its own challenge come winter.  I’m starting to be creative in sneaking in more steps.  My work break walk takes me over to Jewel and I walk up and down the aisles.  I’m also starting to walk down twenty floors at least once a day.  I was doing this a few years ago and it bothered my knees.  But I feel stronger these days so we’ll see.

GOAL:  Daily -Stretching and Increased water intake, protein and vegetables

ACTUAL:  This was more of an every-other-day thing.  My stretching was more reactive than proactive.  If I felt a twinge, I stretched it out.  I also ended up eating a lot on the fly.  I do much better with intention and preparation for stretching and eating.  And I need to water myself.  The colder weather has me dehydrating.

GOAL:  Red wine reduction

ACTUAL:  Did I tell you about my event?

GOAL:  Rein in the excessive spending

ACTUAL:  I feel like I have been crazy spending BUT it was work related.  I max-ed out my corporate card and had to use my personal card.  I’m looking forward to being reimbursed in what will feel like free money.

GOAL:  Double the couch fund

ACTUAL:  I put a little more coin in the sofa account.

GOAL:  Re-engage in the living mindfully book

ACTUAL:  Epic fail!  I also haven’t started my book club book.  I need to craft out time to read.

GOAL:  Be kinder to everyone… even the jerks

ACTUAL:  I did have some dicey moments this past week dealing with jerks.  I’m trying hard not to react or better stated over-react to others’ negativity.  I’m practicing staying peaceful.  I’m working on letting go of trying to control people’s behavior.  And I’m making an effort to respond in kindness.

On to week 3….
